Welcome to Offshore Safe Deposit Boxes, a financial blog focusing on safe deposit boxes/lockers located outside the United States that was launched in February 2014 by Chicago-area blogger and researcher Christopher E. Hill. The weblog looks at why offshore safe deposit boxes/lockers are considered effective asset protection tools.
Offshore Safe Deposit Boxes strongly condemns any attempted use of these overseas storage containers for illegal purposes.
New material will be published regularly during the business week on Offshore Safe Deposit Boxes. Readers are invited to submit comments, although they are moderated by the editor (see “Disclaimer & Policies” page).
Offshore Safe Deposit Boxes debuted in 2014 along with its sister website- Offshore Private Vaults, “Overseas Asset Protection Outside The Banking System.” The site looks at why overseas non-bank vaults are considered effective asset protection tools, and provides a regularly-updated list of these storage facilities worldwide.
Related to his interest in protecting legally-obtained/owned private wealth, Christopher Hill created the financial website Texas Bullion Depository in March 2013. As Administrator of the site, he tracks ongoing efforts in Texas to establish a state-owned precious metals storage facility- otherwise known as the Texas Bullion Depository.
Christopher has also been the Editor of the financial and personal safety blog Survival And Prosperity, “Protecting and Growing Self and Wealth in These Uncertain Times,” since November 2010.
In 2017, Mr. Hill will be launching a research business with a primary focus on specialized asset protection.
Prior to his days as a researcher and blogger, Christopher Hill worked in different areas of government, including the U.S. Senate where he oversaw immigration and international matters for Senator Paul Simon of Illinois. Christopher received a B.A. in History and Political Science (double major) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 1995 and an M.A. in Political Science (International Relations) from Loyola University of Chicago in January 1998. At Loyola, his exposure to International Political Economy (IPE) studies, an academic discipline within political science that analyzes economics and international relations, was the catalyst for his current professional pursuits.
Formerly of Chicago, Christopher now splits his time between the Chicago suburbs, where he lives with his girlfriend, and his family’s place in Wisconsin. Mr. Hill is a responsible part-owner of four thoroughbred racehorses including 11-year-old allowance level racer-turned-broodmare Birdie Told Me and her offspring Boom Box (5-year-old horse racing in Illinois), Mistletoe Miss (3-year-old filly in-training; sire multiple Grade I winner and millionaire Giant Oak), and a yearling filly sired by multiple Grade I winner and millionaire Get Stormy. He is a member of the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Chris is also a Sunderland A.F.C. (English Premier League football) supporter and World Rally Championship auto racing fan.
